老人貞觀五年并州汾陽縣住。常誦西方。遂取糧。於法忍山借一空房。止宿念佛。臨終時。大光遍照。面西而終。似登蓮臺遂而去。

In the fifth year of Zhenguan, an old man living in Fenyang County, Bingzhou, constantly recited [the name of the Buddha of] the Western Land. He then took provisions and borrowed a vacant room on Mount Faren, lodging there to practice buddhamanasikāra. At the time of his death, a great light shone everywhere. Facing west, he passed away, seemingly ascending a lotus pedestal and departing.
