1.59

The boy was a person of the Song dynasty period. At the age of eighteen he upheld the bodhisattva precepts, served Dhyāna Master Han, and cultivated the practice for the Pure Land, constantly repenting before his master. At the fourth watch of the night, he suddenly recited aloud on his own. The master was startled and questioned him, and he answered, “I see the Buddha of yellow-golden color, with banners and flowers filling the sky, coming from the west.” Shortly thereafter he died, and a miraculous fragrance did not disperse for several days.
