Liu Yimin of the Jin dynasty was magistrate of the two counties of Chaisang. He relied on Great Master [Hui]yuan to cultivate the Way, practicing buddhānusmṛti-samādhi. When barely half a year had elapsed, in samādhi he saw the Buddha's ūrṇā radiance and [the Buddha] stretching out his hand to guide and receive him. He entreated the Buddha, seeking [ordination] among the sangha, wishing to swiftly abandon his lifespan and be reborn in the Pure Land. He dwelt in the mountains for fifteen years. Knowing the day of his death in advance, he bade farewell to the community, sat upright, and transformed. This was in the fifteenth year of Yixi, at the age of fifty-seven.
