唐辯才。襄陽人。潛修淨土二十年。未甞自稱。獨與護戎任公善。謂之曰。才必生淨土。期在十年。一日令弟子報任公曰。向所期已。及任公至。才曰。吾去矣。趺坐而化。眾聞仙樂西來。異香散漫。

Biancai of the Tang was a native of Xiangyang. He secretly cultivated the Pure Land for twenty years, never praising himself. He was only close with Lord Ren, the defender of the garrison, and told him: 'Cai will certainly be reborn in the Pure Land; the appointed time is within ten years.' One day, he ordered his disciple to inform Lord Ren, saying: 'What was previously appointed has arrived.' When Lord Ren arrived, Cai said: 'I am going!' He sat cross-legged and passed away. The assembly heard celestial music coming from the west, and an extraordinary fragrance diffused everywhere.
