唐壽洪。汾陽人。常念佛。虔求淨土將亡。見兜率天童子來迎。洪曰。我期西往。不生天上。即令眾念佛。遽云。佛從西來。言訖而化。

Shouhong of the Tang was a native of Fenyang. He constantly practiced buddhamanasikāra, devoutly seeking the Pure Land. When about to die, he saw boy attendants of Tuṣita Heaven coming to welcome him. Hong said: 'I intend to go to the west; I will not be born in the heavens!' He immediately ordered the assembly to practice buddhamanasikāra, and suddenly said: 'The Buddha comes from the west!' When he finished speaking, he passed away.
