晉僧叡。冀州人。遊學諸方。遠歷天竺。還關中。從羅什法師。稟受經義。後預廬山蓮社。宋元嘉十六年。忽告眾曰。吾將行矣。面西合掌而化。眾見叡榻前一金蓮花。倏爾而隱。五色香煙。從其房出。

Sengrui of the Jin was a native of Jizhou. He travelled and studied in various regions, journeying afar to India. Returning to the Guanzhong region, he received the sūtra teachings from Master Kumārajīva. Later he took part in the Lotus Society on Mount Lu. In the sixteenth year of the Yuanjia era of the Song, he suddenly announced to the assembly: "I am about to depart." Facing the west with palms joined, he transformed. The assembly saw a golden lotus flower before Rui's couch, which abruptly vanished; five-colored fragrant smoke drifted out from his room.
