隋登法師。講涅槃經於并州興國寺。來聽經者。普勸念佛往生。開皇十二年命終。異香滿空。及殯光明香雲。遍諸聚落。

Dharma Master Deng of the Sui lectured on the Nirvāṇa Sūtra at Xingguo Temple in Bingzhou. To all who came to hear the sūtra, he universally exhorted buddhamanasikāra and rebirth [in the Pure Land]. In the twelfth year of the Kaihuang reign, his life came to an end. An extraordinary fragrance filled the sky, and when he was encoffined, bright light and fragrant clouds spread over all the villages.
