宋王闐。四明人。號無功叟。凡禪林宗旨。天台教門。無不洞達。著淨土自信錄。晚年專心念佛西向坐化。異香芬郁。焚龕時獲舍利如菽者百八粒。

Wang Tian of the Song dynasty was a native of Siming, styled the Old Man of Non-Action. He thoroughly penetrated both the tenets of the Chan groves and the doctrinal school of Tiantai. He composed the Record of Self-Confidence in the Pure Land. In his late years, he devoted his mind exclusively to buddhamanasikāra and passed away sitting upright facing west. An extraordinary fragrance was rich and pervasive. When his funerary casket was cremated, one hundred and eight bean-sized relics were obtained.
