晉張野。居潯陽。兼通華梵。尤善屬文。舉茂才。屢徵散騎常侍。俱不就。入廬山蓮社。修淨業。義熙十四年。與家人別。入室端坐而逝。

Zhang Ye of the Jin lived in Xunyang. He was versed in both Chinese and Sanskrit, and was particularly skilled in literary composition. He was recommended as a xiucai (exceptional talent) and repeatedly summoned to serve as an attendant cavalier in ordinary attendance (sanqi changshi), but declined all appointments. He entered the Lotus Society at Mount Lu to cultivate pure karma. In the fourteenth year of the Yixi reign era, he bade farewell to his family, entered his room, sat upright, and passed away.
