隋文帝。后獨孤子。雖處王宮。深厭女質。常念阿彌陀佛。以八月甲子命終。時永安宮北。種種音樂。自然震响。異香滿室。從空而至。帝問闍提斯那。是何祥瑞。對曰。淨土有佛。號阿彌陀。皇后業高。超登彼國。故現斯瑞耳。

The Sui Emperor Wen's empress, Lady Dugu, deeply loathed her female body despite living in the imperial palace. She constantly practiced buddhamanasikāra to Amitābha. In the eighth month, on the jiazi day, her life came to an end. At that time, north of the Yong'an Palace, various kinds of music naturally sounded, and a wondrous fragrance filled the room, arriving from the sky. The Emperor asked Jātīsena, "What auspicious omen is this?" He replied, "In the Pure Land there is a Buddha named Amitābha. Because the Empress's karma is exalted, she has transcended to ascend to that land; hence this omen has manifested."
