宋廣平郡夫人馮氏。少多病。慈受深禪師。教以齋戒念佛。諦信力行十年不怠。忽厭世。人怪之曰。清淨界中。失念至此。支那緣盡。行即西歸。何怪之有。臨終氣絕復甦。謂家人曰。吾已歸淨土。見佛境界。與華嚴十六觀經所說不異。已而長逝。三日後舉屍如生。異香芬馥。

In the Song dynasty, Lady Feng, Mistress of Guangping Commandery, was sickly in her youth. Chan Master Cisou Shen taught her to observe the dietary precepts and practice buddhamanasikāra; she placed deep faith in it and practiced vigorously for ten years without slacking. Suddenly she came to loathe the world. People found it strange and asked her about it; she said, "Within the realm of purity, I lost mindfulness and fell into this state. Now my karmic ties with China are exhausted, and I shall soon return to the west. What is there to find strange?" At her end, her breath ceased, but she revived and told her family, "I have already returned to the Pure Land. The realm of the Buddha I saw does not differ from what is taught in the Avataṃsaka and the Sixteen Contemplations Sūtra." Thereupon she passed away forever. Three days later, when they lifted her corpse, it looked as if she were alive, with an abundant, wondrous fragrance.
