Jin Shi of the Song dynasty was a native of Kuaiji. He made netting fish his trade. Suddenly he had a profound awakening, upheld the precepts with diligence, and made a daily recitation of ten thousand invocations of the Buddha's name, which he did not abandon over a long time. Later, without any illness, he spoke to his family: 'Amitābha and the two bodhisattvas have come together to welcome me; I am returning to the Pure Land.' He burned incense, sat upright, and transformed. The townsfolk smelled an extraordinary fragrance and heard heavenly music that did not disperse all day.
