Under the Great Ming, Old Woman Yu was the mother of Yu Gui, a villager of Shaocun in Changping Prefecture of Beijing. She had long accumulated the practice of buddhamanasikāra. One day, she washed her clothes very cleanly and said to her son: 'I am about to be born in the Pure Land.' Her son did not believe her. When the time came, she took a table, placed it in the center of the courtyard, sat upon it, and passed away. Extraordinary fragrance and heavenly music were heard by all the villagers.
