Under the Great Ming, the mother of the palace official Sun Ming maintained vegetarian precepts and practiced buddhamanasikāra all her life. In her old age she had a slight illness, and knowing that her time had arrived, she told her son that she wished to pass away while sitting. Her son wept mournfully and could not stop her; he then made a shrine for her. When the time arrived, she entered the shrine, sat peacefully, and transformed.
