2.73

贊曰。人傳蓬萊有樂天名。樂天辭以偈曰。海山不是吾歸處。歸即須歸兜率天。今復捨兜率。而求淨土。豈所謂披砂揀金。愈擇而愈精者耶。

The appraisal says: People relate that the name of Letian was on Penglai, but Letian declined it with a verse: "The ocean mountain is not the place where I return; / If I return, I must return to the Tuṣita Heaven." Now he abandons Tuṣita again and seeks the Pure Land; is this not what is meant by panning the sand to pick out gold, refining more and more as one chooses?
