2.87

贊曰。續之能岩穴市朝。則亦可以西方東土矣。而必念佛求生。其真知利害者乎。古有頌云。高山平地總西方。未到家者請勿戲論。

The appraisal says: Since Xuzhi could treat marketplaces and courts as mountain caves, he could likewise treat the Western Direction and the Eastern Land as one; yet he insisted on practicing buddhamanasikāra to seek rebirth. Did he not truly understand the benefit and harm? An ancient verse says: "High mountains and level ground are all the Western Direction; / But let those who have not reached home refrain from idle chatter."
