3.51

宋陳企。龍舒人。甞殺人。後見鬼現。企大怖。急念阿彌陀佛。鬼不得近。因念佛不已。鬼遂不現。

Chen Qi of the Song dynasty was a native of Longshu. He had once killed someone, and later saw the ghost appear. Qi was terrified and urgently recited Amitābha Buddha; the ghost could not draw near. Because he recited the Buddha without stopping, the ghost thereupon ceased to appear.
