3.56

宋劉仲慧。湖州長興人。患夜夢恐怖。有教以念佛者。遂至誠高念一百八遍。然後就寢。當夜神魂晏然。自是繼念不輟。

Liu Zhonghui of the Song dynasty was a native of Changxing in Huzhou. Suffering from fearful nightmares, someone taught him to practice buddhamanasikāra; he then recited aloud with utmost sincerity one hundred and eight times before going to sleep. That night his spirit was calm and at ease; from then on, he continued reciting without interruption.
