In the Song dynasty, the matron Lady Chen was a person of Qiantang. She received the bodhisattva precepts from Vinaya Master Lingzhi. Single-mindedly practicing buddhamanasikāra, she made a daily practice of one thousand prostrations. Once, relics were found scattered across her sūtra desk. When her end approached, she saw the Buddha coming to welcome her. Looking back, she spoke to those beside her, but before she had finished half a sentence, she was already motionless and still.
