The Mahākaruṇā Sūtra says: The Buddha said, 'After my parinirvāṇa, in northern India there will be a bhikṣu named Jīvaka. He will cultivate and accumulate immeasurable kinds of most supreme wholesome roots of bodhi. Afterward, when his life ends, he will be born in the Western Direction, past hundreds of thousands of koṭis of worlds, in the Land of Immeasurable Life (Amitāyus). In the presence of that Buddha, he will plant various wholesome roots, and later he will become a Buddha named Stainless Light (Vimalaprabha).'
