The various virtuous masters above all synthesized the myriad arts and concurrently propagated this scripture. Some falsely feigned modesty and concealed their practice, while others had aspirations they could not fulfill. Since this was neither their sole specialization nor accompanied by auspicious omens, they are directly recorded and appended here, so that those who cherish this Way may know that its orchid fragrance has never ceased.
