On the third day of the sixth month in the ninth year of the Dali era, he addressed his disciples, saying: 'Bring me fresh, clean robes and let me bathe.' When he had finished bathing, he put on the fresh, clean robes and asked his disciples, 'Has the mealtime arrived?' They replied, 'It has arrived.' He instructed his disciples and followers: 'If you are filial sons, you must not disobey my verbal instructions. I am about to make the great departure. After I have gone, you must not knit your brows. Do not be like the worldly people who do not practice; those who weep, wipe their eyes, and knit their brows are not to be called my disciples. Weeping is worldly dharma; the Buddha-dharma is not like that. To be free from all marks is to see the Buddha.' Having spoken, he peacefully underwent the sitting transformation. The Great Master's worldly age was sixty-one.
