1.66

五百比丘聞偈已。依教奉行皆獲無漏。尊者乃作十八變火光三昧用焚其身。毱多收舍利葬於梵迦羅山。五百比丘人持一幡。迎導至彼建塔供養。乃宣王二十三年乙未歲也（當作二十二年）。

Having heard the gāthā, the five hundred bhikṣus practiced according to the teaching and all attained the undefiled state. The Venerable then performed eighteen transformations and entered the Fire-Radiance Samādhi to incinerate his body. Upagupta collected the relics and buried them on Mount Brahmakāra. The five hundred bhikṣus, each holding a banner, led the way to that place, where they erected a stūpa to make offerings to them. It was the twenty-third year of King Xuan, an *yiwei* year (it should be the twenty-second year).
