11.47

石梯和尚。僧新到於師前立少頃便出。師曰。有什麼辨白處。僧再立良久。師曰。辨得也辨得也。僧曰。辨後作麼生。師曰。埋却得也。僧曰。蒼天蒼天。師曰。適來却恁麼如今還不當。僧。乃出去。

Upādhyāya Shiti. A newly arrived monk stood before the Master for a short while and then went out.
The Master said, "What was there to discern?"
The monk stood there again for a good while.
The Master said, "It has been discerned! It has been discerned!"
The monk said, "After it has been discerned, what then?"
The Master said, "It can be buried."
The monk said, "Heavens, heavens!"
The Master said, "Just now it was like that, but now it is still not fitting."
The monk then went out.
