12.42

壽州紹宗禪師。問如何是西來意。師曰。好事不出門惡事行千里。有官人謂師曰。見說江西不立宗。師曰。遇緣即立。曰遇緣立箇什麼。師曰。江西不立宗。

Chan Master Shaozong of Shouzhou. A monk asked, "What is the meaning of the coming from the West?" The Master said, "Good deeds do not leave the door; bad deeds travel a thousand li." An official said to the Master, "I have heard it said that Jiangxi does not establish a school." The Master said, "Encountering conditions, it is immediately established." The official asked, "Encountering conditions, what is established?" The Master said, "Jiangxi does not establish a school."
