韶州靈瑞和尚有人問如何是佛。師喝云。汝是村裏人。問如何是西來意。師曰。十萬八千里。問如何是本來心。師曰。坐却毘盧頂。出沒太虛中。

Master Lingrui of Shaozhou. A person asked, "What is the Buddha?" The Master shouted and said, "You are a villager!" [The person] asked, "What is the meaning of the [Patriarch's] coming from the West?" The Master said, "A hundred and eight thousand li." [The person] asked, "What is the original mind?" The Master said, "Sitting atop Vairocana's head, appearing and disappearing in great empty space."
