13.34

郢州興陽詞鐸禪師（第三世住）僧問。佛界與眾生界相去多少。師曰。道不得。僧曰。真箇那。師曰。有些子。問傘蓋忽臨於寶坐。師今何異鵲巢時。師曰。道不得。僧曰。即今底。師曰。輸汝一佛法。

Chan Master Ciduo of Xingyang in Yingzhou (the third-generation resident). A monk asked, "How far apart are the Buddha realm and the sentient realm?" The Master said, "It cannot be spoken." The monk said, "Is it really so?" The Master said, "There is a bit." [A monk] asked, "The parasol suddenly descends upon the jeweled throne; how does the Master differ today from the time of the magpie's nest?" The Master said, "It cannot be spoken." The monk said, "What about right now?" The Master said, "I concede to you a bit of Buddha-Dharma."
