22.10

台州白雲迺禪師。僧問。荊山有玉非為寶。囊內真金賜一言。師曰。我家貧。僧曰。慈悲何在。師曰。空慚道者名。

Chan Master Nai of Baiyun in Taizhou. A monk asked, "Jade in Mount Jing is not counted as a treasure; bestow a word on the true gold within the pouch." The Master said, "My house is poor." The monk said, "Where is your compassion?" The Master said, "I am only ashamed of the name of a person of the Way."
