22.13

溫州雲山佛[山*(奧-釆+米)]院知默禪師（第二世住）師上堂曰。山僧如今看見諸上坐。恁麼行脚喫辛喫苦盤山涉㵎。終不為觀看州縣參尋名山聖迹。莫非為此一大事。如今且要諸人於本參中通箇消息來。雲山敢與證明。非但雲山證明。乃至禪林佛剎亦與證明。僧問。如何是佛[山*(奧-釆+米)]家風。師曰。送客不離三步內。邀賓只在草堂前。

Chan Master Zhimo of Fo'ao Cloister on Mount Yun in Wenzhou (residing as the second generation). The Master ascended the hall and said, "Seeing all you sthaviras currently traveling like this on foot, tasting bitterness and hardship, winding around mountains and wading through ravines, it is certainly not to sightsee prefectures and counties or visit famous mountains and sacred traces—is it not solely for this one great matter? Now I just require that all of you convey some news from your fundamental inquiry. Yunshan dares to give you verification. Not only does Yunshan give verification, but even the Chan groves and Buddha lands also give verification." A monk asked, "What is the house style of Fo'ao?" The Master said, "Seeing off a guest, I do not step beyond three paces; inviting a visitor, it is only in front of the thatched hall."
