韶州披雲智寂禪師。僧問。如何是披雲境。師曰。白日沒閑人。問以字不成八字不是。未審是什麼字。師說偈答曰。
Chan Master Zhiji of Piyun in Shaozhou. A monk asked, "What is the environment of Piyun?" The master said, "Under the bright sun, there are no idle people." He asked, "It is not formed like the character yi (以), nor is it the character ba (八). I wonder what character it is?" The master replied with a verse, saying:
