23.12

朗州滄谿璘和尚。僧問。如何是滄谿境。師曰。面前水正東流。問如何是滄谿家風。師曰。入來便見。問是法住法位世間相常住。雲門和尚向什麼處去也。師曰。見麼。曰錯。師曰錯錯。問如何是西來意。師曰。不錯。師因事有頌曰。

Upādhyāya Lin of Cangxi in Langzhou. A monk asked, “What is the realm of Cangxi?”
The master said, “The water in front is flowing straight to the east.”
[A monk] asked, “What is the house style of Cangxi?”
The master said, “Enter and you will immediately see.”
[A monk] asked, “‘These phenomena abide in their phenomenal position; the worldly characteristics are constantly abiding.’ Where did Upādhyāya Yunmen go?”
The master said, “Do you see?”
[The monk] said, “Wrong.”
The master said, “Wrong, wrong.”
[A monk] asked, “What is the meaning of the [Patriarch's] coming from the West?”
The master said, “Not wrong.”
