隋州龍居山智門寺守欽圓照大師。僧問。兩鏡相對為什麼中間無像。師曰。自己亦須隱。曰鏡破臺亡時如何。師竪起拳。問如何是和尚家風。師曰。額上不帖牓。

Great Master Shouqin Yuanzhao of Zhiman Temple on Mount Longju in Suizhou. A monk asked, 'When two mirrors face each other, why is there no image between them?' The master said, 'Oneself must also be hidden.' [The monk] said, 'How is it when the mirror breaks and the stand falls?' The master held up his fist. [The monk] asked, 'What is the Upādhyāya's house style?' The master said, 'No placard is posted on the forehead.'
