24.65

興元府玄都山澄和尚。僧問。喜得趨方丈家風事若何。師曰。熏風開曉露。明月正當天。曰如何拯濟。師曰。金雞樓上一下鼓。問如何是沙門行。師曰。一切不如。

Upādhyāya Cheng of Mount Xuandu in Xingyuan Prefecture. A monk asked, "Delighted to hasten to the abbot's quarters; what of the matters of your house style?" The Master said, "The balmy breeze opens the morning dew; the bright moon is right in the sky." The monk said, "How do you bring salvation?" The Master said, "A single stroke of the drum atop the Golden Rooster Tower." The monk asked, "What is the practice of a śramaṇa?" The Master said, "Nothing compares."
