法眼却問一僧。若是孝順之子合下得一轉語。且道合下得什麼語。無對（法眼自代云。他是孝順之子）。

Fayan then asked a monk, "If one were a filial son, one ought to be able to offer a turning word. Tell me: what word ought to be offered?" There was no reply. (Fayan spoke in his place: "He is a filial son.")
