泉州王延彬入招慶院。見方丈門閉問演侍者。有人敢道大師在否。演曰。有人敢道大師不在否（法眼別云。太傅識大師）。

Wang Yanbin of Quanzhou entered Zhaoking Monastery. Seeing the abbot's quarters closed, he asked the attendant Yan, "Does anyone dare say whether the Great Master is present?" Yan said, "Does anyone dare say whether the Great Master is absent?" (Fayan spoke alternatively: "The Grand Tutor recognizes the Great Master.")
