洞山行脚時會一官人曰。三祖信心銘弟子擬注。洞山曰。才有是非紛然失心。作麼生注（法眼代云。恁麼即弟子不注也）。

When Dongshan was on pilgrimage, he met an official who said, "I intend to write a commentary on the Third Patriarch's Inscription on Faith in Mind." Dongshan said, "As soon as there is right and wrong, the mind is lost in confusion. How will you comment?" (Fayan spoke in his place: "If so, then I shall not comment.")
