僧問龍牙。十二時中如何著力。龍牙曰。如無手人欲行拳始得（東禪齊云。好言語且作麼生會。嘗問一僧。他道無手底人何更行得拳也。及問伊佛法。伊便休去將知路布說。得無用處不如子細體取古人意好）。

A monk asked Longya, "Throughout the twelve periods of the day, how should one exert effort?" Longya said, "Only when you are like a handless man who wants to throw a fist will you attain it." (Dongshan Qi said, "Good words! But how do you understand them? I once asked a monk, and he said, 'How could a handless man throw a fist again?' When I questioned him on the Buddha Dharma, he fell silent. Know that speaking in circles is useless; it is better to comprehend the ancients' meaning with care.")
