一僧注道德經。人問曰。久嚮大德注道德經。僧曰。不敢。曰何如明皇（法燈代云。是弟子）。

A monk was annotating the Daodejing. Someone asked him, "I have long heard that you, Bhadanta, are annotating the Daodejing." The monk said, "I would not presume." The person said, "How does it compare to that of Emperor Minghuang?" (Fadeng answered on his behalf, "He is my disciple.")
