誰云古鏡無樣度。古今出入何門戶。門戶君看不見時。即此為君全顯露。全顯露。與汝一生終保護。若遇知音請益來。逢人不得輕分付。但任作見面。不須生怕怖。看取當時演若多。直至如今成錯誤。如今不省影分明。還是當時同一顧。同一顧苦苦苦。

Who says the ancient mirror has no measure or standard? / Through what gate has it passed coming and going from past to present? / When you, sir, look at the gate and do not see it, / Right here, for your sake, it is completely revealed. / Completely revealed! / I entrust it to your protection for the rest of your life. / If you meet an intimate friend who comes to seek instruction, / When meeting people, do not lightly impart it. / Just let appearances be seen; / There is no need to give rise to fear. / Look at Yajñadatta of back then— / Right up to the present day it has become an error. / If now you do not awaken to the distinct reflection, / It is still the very same glance of that time. / The very same glance—bitter, bitter, bitter!
