The three realms are like illusions; / The six destinies are like dreams. / The appearance of sages and worthies in the world is like lightning; / The lands of the realm are like bubbles on the water. / Impermanent arising and ceasing alters from day to day. / Only mahāprajñā / Is as hard as a vajra, beyond all praise, / Soft as silk-cotton, large as the void, / Small as the finest dust mote, impossible to see. / Gathering it to make it collect, it does not collect; / Pushing it to make it disperse, it does not disperse. / Turning the ear wishing to hear it, it is not heard; / Staring with open eyes to view it, it is not seen. / Sing and sing again, / Laughing merrily upon the flat rock. / Laugh and laugh again, / Calling out loudly beneath the shade of the green pine. / Ever since obtaining this mind-pearl, / Neither Śakra nor the wheel-turning king is desired. / This is not something this mountain monk alone brings about; / Ancient worthies from of old played this tune. / Not sitting in meditation, not cultivating the Way; / Moving with circumstances, free and unfettered, just finishing like this. / If only the ten thousand dharmas do not concern the heart, / From beginninglessness when has there ever been birth or old age?
