4.19

師知其了悟乃付以山門。遂隨緣化導。於唐開元十七年二月十八日。終於延祚寺。將示滅謂弟子云。將屍林中施諸鳥獸。壽七十有七。

The master knew he had fully awakened and entrusted the mountain monastery to him. He then guided and transformed beings according to conditions. On the eighteenth day of the second month in the seventeenth year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang, he passed away at Yanzuo Monastery. As he was about to manifest extinction, he said to his disciples, “Take my corpse into the forest and give it to the birds and beasts.” He lived seventy-seven years.
