6.10

洪州泐潭惟建禪師。一日在馬祖法堂後坐禪。祖見乃吹師耳。兩吹師起定。見是和尚却復入定。祖歸方丈。令侍者持一椀茶與師。師不顧。便自歸堂。

Chan Master Letan Weijian of Hongzhou: one day he was sitting in meditation behind Mazu's Dharma hall. Mazu saw him and blew into the master's ear. He blew twice, and the master arose from samādhi. Seeing it was the upādhyāya, he entered samādhi again. Mazu returned to the abbot's quarters and ordered an attendant to bring a bowl of tea to the master. The master paid no heed, and went back to the hall by himself.
