米嶺和尚。僧問。如何是衲衣下事。師云。醜陋任君嫌。不掛雲霞色。師將示滅。乃遺一偈云。

Upādhyāya Miling. A monk asked, "What is the matter beneath the patch-robe?" The Master said, "Ugly as it is, you are free to dislike it; it bears no color of clouds or mist." When the Master was about to manifest his decease, he left behind a verse that said:
