9.27

吉州薯山慧超禪師洞山。來禮拜次。師曰。汝已住一方。又來遮裏作麼。對曰。良价無奈疑何。特來見和尚。師召良价。价應諾。師曰。是什麼。价無語。師曰。好箇佛只是無光焰。

Chan Master Huichao of Mount Shushan in Jizhou. When Dongshan came to pay homage, the master said, 'You already reside in a region of your own; why have you come here again?' Dongshan replied, 'Liangjie could do nothing about his doubts, so he specially came to see the Venerable.' The master called, 'Liangjie!' Jie responded, 'Yes!' The master said, 'What is it?' Jie said nothing. The master said, 'A fine Buddha, only lacking brilliance.'
