The Dīrghāgama Sūtra says: When the human lifespan was eighty thousand years, this Buddha appeared in the world. His caste was Kṣatriya; his family name was Kauṇḍinya. His father was Bandhumat; his mother was Bandhumatī. He resided in the city of Bandhumatī. Sitting beneath a pāṭalī tree, he expounded the Dharma in three assemblies, delivering three hundred and forty-eight thousand people. He had two foremost disciples endowed with supernormal powers: one named Khaṇḍa and the second named Tiṣya. His attendant was Aśoka; his son was Supravartin.
