The Dīrghāgama Sūtra says: When the human lifespan was seventy thousand years, this Buddha appeared in the world. His caste was Kṣatriya; his family name was Kauṇḍinya. His father was Aruṇa; his mother was Prabhāvatī. He resided in the city of Aruṇavatī. Sitting beneath a puṇḍarīka tree, he expounded the Dharma in three assemblies, delivering two hundred and fifty thousand people. He had two foremost disciples endowed with supernormal powers: one named Abhibhū and the second named Saṃbhava. His attendant was Kṣemamkara; his son was Atula.
