He went directly to Guihu and erected a hermitage. Before long, he said to his disciples, "After my extinction, give my remains to the insects and ants; do not build a tomb or stupa." Having finished speaking, he secretly went into Mount Hutou, sat on a boulder, and solemnly passed away forever. His disciple Jieyin entered the mountains searching for him and found him. Obeying his dying command, he delayed for seven days, yet ultimately no insects or ants attacked or consumed him. Thereupon they performed the cremation (jhāpita) on the spot and scattered [the ashes] in the woods and wilds. Today his portrait hall remains at the Pure Land Cloister of Kaiyuan Monastery in Quanzhou.
