Master, you have lived to one hundred years, / Yet for eighty you committed errors. / Because you were near to the most venerable, / You practiced and entered the Way. / Though you possess a little wisdom, / You have much self and other; / Toward all the worthies you have seen, / You have never produced cherish and respect. / In twenty years of merit, / Your mind has not been tranquil and calm. / Because of cleverness and arrogance, / You have come to this result. / That you received the king's disrespect / Must bring about a fruition such as this. / From now on, if you are not negligent or idle, / Before long you will achieve extraordinary wisdom. / All sages preserve this in mind; / The Tathāgata is also like this.
