In the third year of the Dali era of the Tang, the tree where the cauldron hung and the vine where the robe hung in front of the stone chamber suddenly withered and died in midsummer. On the fifteenth day of the sixth month in the fourth year, having gathered the monks and completed the poṣadha, he ordered his attendant to shave his head and wash his body. At night, auspicious clouds covered his lodging, and the sound of heavenly music was heard in the air. At dawn, he serenely passed away while sitting. At that time, a storm of wind and rain arose violently, breaking trees in the forest, and a white rainbow traversed the crags and ravines. In the spring of the fifth year, cremation was performed, and relics obtained were beyond count. He lived eighty-seven years.
