10.18

饒州崇福德基禪師上堂。若於這裏會得。便能入一佛國坐一道場。水鳥樹林共譚斯要。樓臺殿閣同演真乘。續千聖不盡之燈。照八面無私之焰。所以道。在天同天在人同人。還有知音者麼。良久曰。水底金烏天上日。眼中瞳子面前人。

Chan Master Deji of Chongfu in Raozhou ascended the hall. 'If you understand right here, you can enter a single Buddha-land and sit in a single bodhimaṇḍa. The waterbirds and grove of trees together discuss this essential point; the multi-storied pavilions and halls together expound the true vehicle, continuing the inexhaustible lamp of the thousand sages and illuminating the impartial flame on all eight sides. Therefore it is said: in heaven, accord with heaven; among humans, accord with humans. Is there anyone here who knows the tune?' After a pause he said, 'The golden crow at the bottom of the water is the sun in the sky; the pupil within the eye is the person before your face.'
